How it works

How a round of omequiz works

It is a live game rather than a solo trivia app. Nobody answers on their own clock: everyone in the room sees the same question at the same moment, and the round moves on when the timer does.

    Open a room

    Pick up to three of the nine categories, set how many questions and how hard they should be, and the room exists. You get a six-character code and a link to it.

  2. 02

    Share the code

    Anyone with the code joins in a browser — no install and no app store, on a phone as readily as a laptop. Up to ten players per room, or leave the lobby public and let it fill on its own.

  3. 03

    Answer at the same time

    Points scale with speed as well as with being right, so a fast answer is worth more than a slow one and the order on the scoreboard keeps changing. Voice and video are optional on top.

What is omequiz?

omequiz is a multiplayer quiz game you play in your browser. One person creates a room and picks the categories, everyone else joins with a six-character code, and you answer the same questions at the same time. Points depend on whether you are right and how quickly you answer.

Is omequiz free?

Yes, completely. You need a free account so your score and friends list persist, but there is nothing to pay for and no premium tier.

How many players can join?

Between 1 and 10 per room. You can play solo to practise, open a public lobby, or keep the room private and share the code only with your friends.

What quiz categories are available?

Nine: general knowledge, science, history, sports, entertainment, geography, technology, art and Türkenquiz. Every question is written in both English and German, and you can pick up to three categories per round.

Is omequiz safe?

We run automated image checks on camera streams and uploads, every player can report another mid-game, and reports go to a moderation queue with warnings and bans behind it. Playing requires an account, so behaviour is tied to an identity rather than being anonymous. Our safety page explains the details.

Is this a random video chat?

No. omequiz is a game — you join a specific room to play a quiz, and video is an optional extra on top of that. There is no 'next stranger' button and no open-ended chat with people you were randomly paired with.
